Voskan’s intent behind creating this piece was to demonstrate and instill a feeling of perseverance and a sense of resolute decisiveness. The way he consistently incorporates this in the piece is with the sharp and crisp black lines which illustrate the facets of the art – knowing exactly what one desires and maintaining that vision, a journey which we call life. In order to accomplish his objective of portraying what he believes the human spirit and vision are, Voskan believes that using materials such as lava jell allow for a unique texture, adhering additional pieces of canvas create rougher and ticker areas, and the use of acrylic paint allows for several layers of successively coloring without distorting the overall quality of the piece.
