About Me
Voskan Galstian, born in 1962 and originally from Armenia, is an American-Armenian abstract expressionist artist known for his emotionally charged and vibrant paintings. At the age of seven, his family moved to their hometown in Hrazdan, Armenia, where he spent his childhood. Galstian attended the Hrazdan Art School before pursuing formal education at the Art Institute in Yerevan, graduating in 1985 with a master’s degree in Fine Art.
After graduation, he taught art in Armenia for seven years and participated actively in the local art scene, exhibiting both solo and in group shows. His first solo exhibition took place in 1988 in Armenia, and his work was subsequently shown in galleries and exhibitions throughout Armenia, Russia, Belgium, and Iran.
In 1993, he immigrated to the United States, settling in Los Angeles, California, where he continued his career in art. Since 2003, he has been a regular participant in the Los Angeles Art Fair and numerous other exhibitions, showcasing his distinctive style of intuitive, movement-driven abstract painting. Galstian describes his creative process as letting emotions guide his hand, “severing the mind from making decisions” to produce deeply visceral and expressive compositions.
His artworks—often painted in acrylic and oil—have been featured on platforms such as 1stDibs, Saatchi Art, UGallery, and Artsy, and are held in private collections around the world. Notable pieces include Dare to Dream, First Instance, and Second Cycle. His work has been celebrated for its ability to capture the essence of beauty and emotion while forging a personal connection with viewers.
Today, Voskan Galstian lives in Glendale, California, with his wife and two children, continuing to create and exhibit his art while actively participating in the contemporary art scene.
